ArzBill vs Excel
Excel is free and everyone already has it — which is exactly why so many Pakistani wholesale and retail businesses start there. It works fine for a while. Here's specifically where it stops working as a business grows past a handful of daily sales.
| Excel | ArzBill | |
|---|---|---|
| Updates stock automatically after a sale | ✗ | ✓ |
| Multiple staff can bill customers at the same time, safely | ✗ | ✓ |
| Customer udhaar (credit) balance calculated automatically | ✗ | ✓ |
| WhatsApp invoice sent directly from the sale screen | ✗ | ✓ |
| Accounting (ledgers, P&L, balance sheet) generated from real transactions | ✗ | ✓ |
| Data survives a lost laptop or a corrupted file | ✗ | ✓ |
| Low-stock alerts | ✗ | ✓ |
| Works from a phone at the counter | ✗ | ✓ |
| Free to start | ✓ | ✓ |
The real problem isn't Excel itself
Excel is a spreadsheet, not a system. It has no concept of "this sale reduced that item's stock" or "this customer now owes this much" — every one of those connections has to be maintained by a person, by hand, every single day. The mistakes that cause (a wrong formula, an overwritten cell, a file two people edited at once) don't show up immediately — they show up as a stock count that doesn't match, or a customer dispute over what they actually owe.
ArzBill keeps the same one-invoice-in, everything-updates simplicity traders already like about a register — it just makes stock, cash, and the customer ledger update together automatically, instead of needing someone to keep three things in sync by hand.
